University of Madrid Article Published: Remediation of soil contaminated by PAHs and TPH using alkaline activated persulfate enhanced by surfactant addition

Journal of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology

Independent, unsolicited tests performed by Researching Group INPROQUIMA (Universidad Complutense de Madrid) demonstrated the performance advantages provides by S-ISCO (Surfactant-enhanced In Situ Chemical Oxidation) compared to conventional ISCO (In Situ Chemical Oxidation) and use of a commodity surfactant. Test results were the focus of the journal article titled “Remediation of soil contaminated by PAHs and TPH using alkaline activated persulfate enhanced by surfactant addition” which was published in October, 2017 in the Journal of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology.

Researchers & Authors: Miguel A Lominchar, David Lorenzo, Arturo Romero, and Aurora Santos

Article Description: Researching Group INPROQUIMA at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, completed extensive research comparing EthicalChem’s surfactant to a commodity surfactant and evaluating the benefits of S-ISCO over traditional ISCO. Excellent S-ISCO results demonstrated how EthicalChem surfactants are more compatible with the industry standard oxidants sodium persulfate and sodium hydroxide. Results also show how S-ISCO provides a complete remedy by treating soil as well as groundwater, compared to ISCO which is does not completely address soil contamination.
