New EthicalChem Technologies and Patents

A full scale, sequenced implementation of S-ISCO (Surfactant-enhanced In Situ Chemical Oxidation) and nutrient injections marked the initial implementation of combined surfactant enhanced chemical oxidation with bio-remediation. A combined SEPR (Surfactant Enhanced Product Recovery) and S-ISCO with nutrients implementation is also planned for near term implementation at an active gas station site.

EthicalChem recently formulated a permanganate compatible surfactant blend. Product launch is planned for the second quarter 2018.

Notices of Allowance were received for two Canadian Patents, EthicalChem’s S-ISCO technology and SEPR technology, making Canada the third country, in addition to the US and Australia, in which the S-ISCO patent has been granted, and the fourth country/region (US, Australia, Europe, Canada) in which the SEPR patent has been granted.

Continued Adoption of EthicalChem S-ISCO and SEPR Technologies

EthicalChem S-ISCO (Surfactant-enhanced In Situ Chemical Oxidation) and SEPR (Surfactant Enhanced Product Recovery) surfactant/oxidant technologies were implemented at a variety of new sites in the U.S. and internationally during the past year. New S-ISCO, SEPR or sequenced SEPR/S-ISCO projects in North and South America included treatment of coal tar, TPH, and chlorinated solvent soil contamination. SEPR was also sequenced with surfactant enhanced bioremediation for remediation of heating oil. A successful treatability study led to a large field pilot implementation for an international coal tar contaminated site. SEPR and S-ISCO technologies were implemented at this site in late 2017 with full-scale implementation anticipated in 2018. The lab case study for this project can be viewed here>>

Queens NY Community Benefits from S-ISCO Cleanup with New Library Construction

While working in the New York City Area this past year, several EthicalChem team members visited a site remediated with our S-ISCO technology. We were pleased to see construction progressing for the new Hunter’s Point Library. This Queens property located along the East River was formerly unusable due to coal tar contamination. Following successful implementation of S-ISCO and RemMetrik technologies, the site received a certificate of completion from NYSDEC restoring the land for use in the Queens community.

Spring 2018 Update

University of Madrid Research Paper Highlights S-ISCO Advantages

Independent, unsolicited tests completed by the research group INPROQUIMA at the University of Madrid demonstrated the advantage of EthicalChem’s surfactant over a commodity surfactant when used with an oxidant for in situ remediation. Test results also document the advantage of S-ISCO (Surfactant-enhanced In Situ Chemical Oxidation) remediation compared to ISCO (In Situ Chemical Oxidation) remediation for soil contamination and also the benefits of EthicalChem’s surfactant compatibility with alkaline conditions compared to a commodity surfactant. The full paper publication can be read here.
